Dr Gillian Ragsdell’s research focuses on understanding and improving knowledge management (KM) practices to support the achievement of strategic objectives. Her approach is holistic and takes account of technological, social and cultural aspects. While much of her work has facilitated organisational programmes of change and development, she has also influenced the KM activities of sectors (private, public and voluntary) and societies. On this basis, Dr Ragsdell has received a number of awards, among which a Certificate of Merit in the Knowledge Management and Intellectual Capital Excellence Awards (2015). She has also received a Royal Academy of Engineering Fellowship to help the Energy Technologies Institute evaluate and enhance its impact on industrial practices. Future implementation of this research will include knowledge transfer events and extended consultancy at individual, organisational, and policy‑making levels in the UK and internationally.
During 2015-2016 the Royal Academy of Engineering Industrial Secondment Scheme enabled Gillian to work with the Energy Technologies Institute (ETI) to further develop an understanding of Knowledge Management in a way that would inform the ETI’s KM strategy to add value into the energy sector.
